Green Street Park is a well loved community park, just over a mile from our studio in Beacon. In response to requests from community members and the City, we partnered with Hudson Land Design Engineering to work alongside Beacon Park and Recreation in designing several new features for the park. These new features are tailored to community input and will provide an improved experience for park goers of all ages.

Our concept for the park is to create a more immersive, natural experience that reflects elements of natural ecosystems. There will be landscape modifications that mimic natural settings, such as a rain garden, dry stream, bioswale, and a pinetum. The playground will be improved with new structures that include a swing set, music walls, and balance logs. Other novel structures include a fire tower, council ring, and an improved entryway with sculptural mounds.

The design also includes a planting plan that will further immerse park-goers in nature by adding oak and pine trees throughout the park. Kids will get to experience nature play with additions such as the kids’ mountain bike path and the playground balance logs. Overall the design creates an entirely new and improved park experience driven by fun and engaging new features, immersion in nature, and an aesthetically pleasing layout.
